How to make Strong Passwords and Actually Remember Them.
In today’s day and age hackers are becoming increasingly more common. For this reason, it’s important to have strong passwords in order to reduce the risk of someone gaining access to your account. Every password should contain a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. The longer the password, the better. However, be aware that each account will have different restrictions on how many and which characters are allowed to be used for passwords on that specific website.
Passwords should also be unique. That is, each account should have a completely different password. Otherwise, if someone figures out one of your passwords, then they can figure out some of your other passwords if they are similar. You don’t want to fall into the situation where someone hacks into your Facebook account and now has access to your bank and your Instagram because you used the same or similar password for those accounts as well.
But if you have a million different passwords, how can you remember them all? Especially if they are super long and complicated passwords?
Use a password manager.
A password manager saves all your passwords in a secure encrypted format in the cloud. When you visit a website where your password is saved, it automatically autofills your login information and signs you in. This works on your phone, tablet, and Mac or Windows PC. It saves you time. Simplifies for your life and keeps your passwords unique and secure.
Now the only password you need to remember is the one to your password manager.
I personally use iCloud Keychain. It is very secure and syncs my passwords across all my Apple devices and works on google chrome on windows PC’s.
It’s also important to turn on two factor authentication for every account you can as an additional layer of security. This will send you a text message with a code to enter on your screen after each login on a new device.
