Cayosoft Guardian Protector turns one!🎉

One year ago, we launched Guardian Protector with a simple belief: every organization should have access to real-time identity threat detection and continuous monitoring, with visibility into identity risk as it develops.

Today, Guardian Protector includes more than 300 detections across Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, Teams, Exchange Online, and emerging non-human identity risks, alongside the growing Cayosoft Threat Directory that offers practical guidance for defenders.

What we're most grateful for, though, is the community. Through monthly Community Hours, Reddit discussions, and conversations with IT and security professionals, your feedback has helped shape the tool and continues to influence what comes next.

Among the highlights of the past year was Guardian Protector's recognition as a Gold Stevie® Award winner in the Identity & Access Security Solution category at the 2026 American Business Awards®.

Thank you to everyone who has used Guardian Protector, shared feedback, joined the conversation, and helped shape its evolution. We look forward to continuing to improve it alongside the community it was built to support.

If you're rebuilding Active Directory after an attack, you're already behind.

Modern identity recovery isn't about restoring a backup. It's about restoring trust.

In our latest blog, we explore why traditional backup-and-rebuild approaches are no longer enough for modern Microsoft environments and how standby identity recovery restores trusted authentication in minutes instead of days.

Recovery readiness starts with a different set of assumptions:

🔸 Recovery starts before the attack
🔸 The most recent backup may be the most dangerous backup
🔸 Business continuity depends on identity continuity
🔸Trusted recovery points matter more than recent ones
🔸 Standby identity recovery eliminates the need to rebuild under pressure

Most organizations think about recovery after an incident.

The problem is that attackers increasingly use legitimate credentials, which means by the time a compromise is discovered, the clock is already ticking.

In this recent article in Security Boulevard, Tony Bradley explores why identity resilience requires a different mindset: preparing for recovery before it's needed.

Featuring insights from our own Robert Bobel, Founder and CEO at Cayosoft, the article looks at how pre-built, continuously validated recovery environments can help organizations move beyond crisis-driven restoration and recover faster from a known-good state.

As identity becomes the primary attack surface, resilience is no longer just about prevention and detection. It's about ensuring you can recover quickly and confidently when an incident occurs.

When you're responsible for identities that support one of the largest and most security-sensitive organizations in the world, every change matters.

The IRS collects more than $4 trillion in tax revenue annually and operates a complex hybrid Microsoft environment spanning Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft 365.

Supporting over 80,000 employees, its multi-forest identity infrastructure underpins thousands of mission-critical applications and identities across the organization.

As the agency modernized its Microsoft identity architecture, security was a key priority. With the Cayosoft Enterprise Suite, the IRS gained:

🔹Zero Trust delegation and RBAC enforcement
🔹Real-time monitoring of identity changes
🔹Immutable audit trails
🔹Instant rollback of unauthorized changes
🔹Safe delegation without domain admin rights
🔹Greater control over privileged access and user provisioning
🔹Instant Forest Recovery with a clean stand-by to eliminate reinfection

The rules of cyber defense are changing.

Attackers are increasingly exploiting hidden trust relationships, excessive permissions, and identity-based attack paths, while security teams are juggling signals across identities, endpoints, and cloud environments.

Join Paula Januszkiewicz🦝, CEO of CQURE, and Craig Birch, Principal Technologist at Cayosoft on October 20th at 1 PM ET for a live discission on 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗘𝗿𝗮 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲.

They'll share real-world attack scenarios, lessons learned from the field, and practical strategies to help organizations strengthen visibility, control, and response.

Is Microsoft pushing you off your old Exchange server?

Microsoft is turning up the pressure on outdated Exchange servers, citing security concerns while accelerating the move to the subscription edition.

On the latest episode of the 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗧 podcast, Russell Smith and Craig Birch dig into what's really going on and what it means if you're running Exchange Online and on-premises in a hybrid setup.

The two also discuss Microsoft's Multicloud Interconnect and how it could make multi-cloud architecture easier to deploy, as well as new admin controls for the Windows Search experience.

As Cybersecurity Awareness Month kicks off, we're proud to see
Dmitry Sotnikov, Chief Product Officer at Cayosoft, featured in VMblog's expert roundup.

Dmitry's message is simple: "make attackers work for every inch."

AI isn't changing the fundamentals of cybersecurity. It's accelerating them. Today's attackers rarely need to outsmart your defenses. They need to find an identity with enough access, privilege, or trust to exploit. AI makes those opportunities easier to find and faster to abuse.

The most resilient organizations are adopting zero standing privilege, delegating access based on tasks, scope, and rules, and replacing direct production changes with controlled, repeatable processes that are easier to review, test, and recover.
