That used to be true.
Today, cybercriminals are using AI to craft highly convincing emails that look like they came from trusted vendors, coworkers, executives, or financial institutions. Many contain no spelling mistakes, suspicious links, or other obvious red flags.
Instead of focusing only on what an email looks like, pay attention to what it's asking you to do.
Be cautious if an email:
โข Requests sensitive information
โข Changes payment or banking details
โข Asks you to purchase gift cards
โข Includes unexpected login links
โข Creates urgency or pressure to act immediately
When something feels off, pause and verify the request through another communication channel.
