This is how the birdhouse turned out that will be available at Art in the Park on Saturday, September 26 from 10 to 3 in Columbia PA at the Locust Street park between fifth and sixth Street.

Stay tuned for the finished piece, it came out even better than I hoped. This birdhouse celebrates Columbia PA 300th anniversary as Wright FERRY which later became Columbia. And of course this is also the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. The bird house will either be on sale or silent auction at Art in the park on Saturday, September 26 from 10 to 3 at Locust St., Park in Columbia. 🇺🇸

Come join me for the day. Would love to see you.

What if you left an art workshop saying, “I see my artwork differently now”?

That’s my goal for Design Secrets for Artists, a two-day, hands-on workshop at York Art Association.

This isn’t about memorizing another list of composition rules. We’re going to explore how some of the ways graphic designers think and solve visual problems can open up new possibilities in fine art.

We’ll experiment with visual hierarchy, movement, shape, scale, negative space and dynamic symmetry, but we’ll also go beyond composition “rules.”

We’ll brainstorm. Make mind maps. Create rapid thumbnails. Crop things. Rearrange things. Try the obvious solution...and then push past it to see what else might happen.

Most importantly, there will be plenty of time to make art and put these ideas into practice in your own way and your own medium, whether you work in painting, drawing, collage, assemblage, mixed media, printmaking, or a little bit of everything.

You don’t need to come ready to make a masterpiece.

Come ready to experiment.
Leave seeing your artwork differently.
