Quick question for infrastructure teams: where does your week actually go? 1) Keeping the lights on, 2) Security and compliance, 3) Vendors and tickets, or 4) Projects that move the business. Our guess is option 4 loses in most shops, because the other three all have deadlines. Tell us your honest answer in the comments.

A private cage used to mean a long build and a large commitment. Right now we have existing cages ready in Ashburn and Austin, and cage builds with power already in place in Allen (250 kW) and Chicago (500 kW). All in HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2 facilities. If a cage has been on the 2027 plan, it does not have to be a 2027 build. datacanopy.com/inventory

The hardest deal for a partner is the one where the client already tried and it failed. Atron Solutions brought us a logistics client whose first attempt at moving from public cloud back to hybrid "turned into a mess." We went straight to the pain, designed around their business, and kept engineers talking directly to the client. In Atron's words: "By golly, it got done right." Most of our available power right now is in Texas: 645 kW across five sites in Allen, Carrollton, Austin, and Houston. Dallas and Austin are two of the tightest markets in the country, where "do you have space" usually gets answered with a date. We have a yes, from a single cabinet to a private cage. A Houston law firm looked at us and said no. Forty-five days later, the 2021 Texas ice storm took their data center down for three days. No systems, no email. They called us needing a same-day move-in. We got their email back online that day, offered a 30-day trial instead of a contract, and delivered 100% uptime. They have been a client ever since. The best time to pick a data center is before you need it that afternoon.

Budget season question: what is driving your 2027 infrastructure budget? Capacity, cost, compliance, or getting off something? Two years ago most of the plans we saw were cost stories. This year a lot of them are exit stories. Tell us yours, and tell us what changed to make it that.

VMware renewal landing in Q4? Renewing is a legitimate answer if you are midway through something else. If you are migrating, the hypervisor is the easy part. The hard part is the backup jobs, monitoring, automation scripts, DR runbooks, and third-party appliances that grew up around vSphere over ten years. Budget for that.

MSPs: the hardest project is the one you already know you cannot staff. A fifteen-person Philadelphia MSP brought us in on an AWS evaluation and a complex Office 365 tenant consolidation. Zero data loss, and roughly 40% savings for the end client. The relationship stayed theirs. You do not need a cloud practice to sell cloud. You need a bench.

An oil and gas company had a hard cap of $10,000 a month for private cloud with disaster recovery. Competing quotes came back at $14,500 to $17,000 plus hardware. We delivered at $9,000 a month, with geographic DR, a recovery time objective under one hour, and 25% growth headroom before the price moves. About $600,000 in capital expense never spent.

CRE brokers: when a tenant says "we are out of room in the server closet," that is a data center requirement, and most brokers let it walk out the door. You bring the relationship, we bring the facilities, the engineering, and the paper, and you are compensated on the deal.
