Pro tip: When installing an SSD in a Mac, TRIM is not automatically enabled unless it was sold with an SSD. Go to Terminal and issue command: sudo trimforce enable

Next, run First Aid on the disk and you will see the entry "Trimming unused blocks" appear in the list of actions.

If you do not enable TRIM, the SSD will eventually degrade.
