This is a lovely amaryllis bought from here in Colorado Springs.

I am fortunate to have an East facing bay window that it loves.

What's that on the bloom stalk? The dog got excited at a delivery driver and it was broken almost completely. I used a hydrogel burn bandage I had and hoped for the best.

I'd say it was a success.

This is a story of loss and redemption.

This cactus is a saguaro grown from a seed packet purchased in Arizona in 1995.

I gave the seeds to my Mom who grew the plant. At advanced age when she couldn't garden any more I took ownership in 2013 or so.

I moved to a new home in NC and then drove it from NC to CO.

It loved the climate here and started budding. Took to office where it loved the window. Brought home to new new CO home and doing great.

Broke in half from own weight, so splinted against wall and fully healed. Dog broke at base and now I'm doing base root rescue plus sterile knife cut and root powder for main growth.

Thanks to the amazing people at for advice and supplies.

Gonna make it and have more cacti now
