Last but not least, to our 75th Annual Meeting last night at The Crossing, celebrating 75 years of Connecting our Communities. 🎉

From a hand-lettered founding flyer in 1951 to a packed house at The Crossing last night, it's been a summer full of nostalgia and stories worth revisiting.

Yesterday's 75th Annual Meeting was full of fun: live music from The On Stage Band, pulled pork, drive-through registration, a bounce house for the kids, custom anniversary cutting boards and coasters, and a roomful of members who still believe in what this cooperative stands for. We've been building connections for the last 75 years, and we look forward to the next 75!

Our crews have officially completed the fiber mainline pipe construction on the west side of Bushnell! 🎉

Now comes one of the coolest parts of the process—blowing fiber optic cable through the underground conduit to prepare homes and businesses for service. Every step brings us closer to lighting up another part of town with lightning-fast MTC fiber internet.

Meanwhile, the east side of Bushnell is complete and OPEN for applications! If you're on the east side and haven't signed up yet, now's the time to get your application in so we can get you connected.

In the late 1980s, MTC said goodbye to its third Colchester office, the building that had served McDonough County since 1960, and built something new.

🚧 The teardown: windows out, roof stripped, walls down to bare brick. That forklift wasn't messing around.

🧱 The build: framing went up, bricklayers worked row by row, carpet went in. Your co-op was building something to last.

🎂 The open house, 1988: the doors opened, the cookies came out, and McDonough County showed up. New offices, new conference room, new kitchen. Neighbors walking the halls, shaking hands, feeling proud of what their cooperative had built.

— investing in the next generation. Then and now. 🏙️

Since the 1990s, MTC has sponsored students on a Youth to Springfield trip — young people from our service areas getting a firsthand look at state government, meeting lawmakers, and learning what it means to be part of a member-owned cooperative.

This past March, MTC did it again.

Cruz Castillo, Deacon Zaehringer, Jude Eveland, Mi-Colette Mbula, Lillian Sheffler, and West Markham represented MTC at the 2026 AIEC Youth Day at the Illinois State Capitol — meeting elected officials, touring the Capitol Building, and learning the cooperative difference alongside 168 students from 24 co-ops across Illinois.

This past June, Deacon Zaehringer and Lillian Sheffler represented MTC on the Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.
