📌 How To Create Super Strong Passwords (That You Can Actually Use) ✔

Statistics show that weak passwords are a consistently large source of hacks and account compromises across the entire industry. Strong passwords are hard to remember, and sometimes even more of a pain to type out, especially when most of us have hundreds of accounts or more.

So how can we maintain strong passwords and remember them easily?

1️⃣ Mix and Match Passwords
Sometimes maybe you do have a few random passwords memorized. Great! How about combining some of those passwords for greater length and complexity? 12 characters + 12 characters is 24. This doesn’t just double your complexity, it squares it. An easy, somewhat dirty solution. But this can be helpful as long as you start with two (or more) good passwords.

2️⃣ Mashup Random Words
We humans think in terms of words, not characters in our heads. So instead of a 12-character password, why not 6-8 words? It’s longer, and it’s easy to remember! The only trick here is that it must be truly random. Try pointing randomly in a book or magazine to get started.

Example: Tomato Dark Square Town Information Facility
Length: 45 characters

3️⃣ Write Out Whole Sentences
Sentences are another way to create a VERY long password that you can easily remember. By using this trick you can create a password of 64 characters or more without any issue. BONUS: Sentences have punctuation. Those are built in special characters that increase complexity out the gate! Again, something to watch out for however— NEVER use a known or famous sentence. Sorry, Shakespeare really shouldn’t be in your password vault.

Example: What in the world? This really should be illegal, how is this secure?
Length: 70 characters

What is Ryuk?

Ryuk is a highly dangerous Russian ransomware variant attributed to the notorious cybercrime group named "Wizard Spider" and regularly makes ransom demands in the range of millions of dollars. In the Crowdstrike 2020 Global Threat Report, Ryuk held the top 3 seats of the top 10 highest ransom demands of the year, the most being $12.5M.

Ryuk's name comes from the Japanese anime show "Death Note" and the name itself means "gift from god."

On a technical level, when Ryuk infects a system, it gets to work immediately by disabling 180 services and 40 processes within the machine. This allows the ransomware to begin encrypting the system.

Once active on a device, the ransomware has the ability to perform Wake-on-LAN to other devices within the network, powering them on and looking for infection vectors. The malware also utilizes "droppers" allowing it to download and run additional code and other malware variants to achieve it's goals.

~How to protect yourself~
• Always, ALWAYS have regular backups of all your data
• Use a reliable antivirus such as BitDefender on every machine
• Don't click suspicious links in emails (this is Ryuk's primary delivery method)
• The moment you think you've been infected, power the machine off and call your IT team. Don't give it a chance to take roots in your network.

Marine, outstanding non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, and the nicest, most genuine guy you'll ever meet — those are just a few descriptors of our friend .macfarland.

"For many, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is by far your #1 source of downtime.

The network drops, the work stops. We’ve seen clients have their networks dropped once a week (or sometimes more) simply because they have a poor ISP. If you’re clinging to your terrible ISP because they offer you a good deal — it’s not a good deal. One way or another that ISP is costing you more money than it’s worth.

If switching isn’t an option, whether it be contract or other reason, find another ISP and use both.

Many business routers have the ability to connect multiple WAN, or internet, connections and simply use the one with a better connection at the time. We’ve even doubled a client’s speed by tapping into two broadband connections at once!"
