Security Tip of the Day (iPhone Edition)
iPhone crew: Protect your privacy by turning on App Tracking Transparency.

Go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking and toggle “Allow Apps to Request to Track” off. This blocks apps from following you across other apps and websites.

Small step, big win for your digital privacy!

Security Tip of the Day (Android Edition)
Android fam: Did you know you can check app permissions at any time?
Go to Settings > Apps > Permissions and see what each app has access to (camera, mic, location, etc.). If something doesn’t make sense—like a calculator wanting your microphone—turn it off!

Regularly reviewing app permissions helps keep your personal data in your control.

PSA from your friendly neighborhood cyber girl:

You don’t need a tech degree to protect yourself online.

But you do need to know this:

- Scammers are getting smarter.
- Our kids are more exposed than ever.
- And your personal info? Already out there if you’re not careful.

This week alone, folks have been getting hit with:
* Fake donation pages tied to real tragedies
* Political petition scams
* Phishing texts pretending to help you “register to vote”

Cyber Tip You Can Use Today:
If it’s about money, politics, or “urgent action” — slow down.
Don’t click links in texts or DMs.
Go directly to the official website or search for it on your own.

Scammers use our outrage and emotions to slip in the back door.
But not on our watch.

Follow for real talk and weekly game.
From me—your friendly neighborhood cyber girl.

Save this. Share it with someone who's been “thinking” about cybersecurity.

Follow right here for more tips every week.

It's been a while but I'm back and ready to take on the world.

I’m Zaviera, and I’ve been working in cybersecurity since 2019. I went back to school in my 50s, earned two certs, and I’m on a mission to bring our people into this field—with clarity, confidence, and community.

As the Cleveland Ambassador for Blacks In Cybersecurity, I’ll be dropping gems, tips, and real talk to help folks (young and grown) break into cyber the right way.

If you’re thinking about getting in, or you know someone who is—follow this page.

No shortcuts. No handouts. Just real direction for folks who are ready.

Let’s get secure. Let’s get paid. Let’s lead.

Popular social news aggregation platform Reddit has disclosed that it was the victim of a security incident that enabled unidentified threat actors to gain unauthorized access to internal documents, code, and some unspecified business systems.

The company blamed it on a "sophisticated and highly-targeted phishing attack" that took place on February 5, 2023, targeting its employees.
