SKYLA — “LIGHTNING UP THE SKY TONIGHT”

Coming this October, Skyla makes her debut as a recording artist with “Lightning Up the Sky Tonight,” a melodic dance/electronic release that blends the atmospheric qualities of trance with the rhythmic drive of breakbeat.

Written and produced by Erick Monasterio and performed by longtime friend and collaborator Skyla, the track delivers a smooth, emotional energy while maintaining the pulse and movement of the club. Rather than leaning heavily into the harder side of electronic music, “Lightning Up the Sky Tonight” takes a more melodic and accessible approach—designed to connect with both dance music listeners and a broader radio audience.

At around 131 BPM, the production moves with a steady breakbeat-driven groove, layered with melodic elements and an atmospheric electronic backdrop that gives Skyla's vocal performance room to take center stage.

The result is a record that lives comfortably between adio and the dance floor—mellow enough to draw the listener in, but energetic enough to keep the momentum moving.

“Lightning Up the Sky Tonight” marks Skyla’s first official release, introducing her as a new voice within the dance/electronic space while establishing a sound that bridges melodic electronic music, breakbeat, and trance influences.

The track is currently targeted for an October 2026 release, with the official release date to be announced.

Twenty-five years ago, the world changed forever. As we look upon this horizon, we remember the day the sky fell, but we also remember the day humanity rose.

Today, we honor the extraordinary courage of our first responders who ran toward the danger without a second thought. But our gratitude extends far deeper. We remember every ordinary citizen who became a hero—the construction workers, the ironworkers, the transit employees, the volunteers, and every kind soul who chipped in to rescue, rebuild, and carry a stranger through the ash.

Our hearts remain heavy for the survivors who made it out, yet never truly left that day behind. We recognize the invisible burdens carried by those whose spirits were forever altered, and we honor the devastating memory of those who survived the initial tragedy only to lose their lives years later to the toxic dust they inhaled.

To the thousands of souls we lost that morning, and to the families who have spent a quarter-century living with a quiet, empty chair at the dinner table—we still mourn with you. Your heartbreak is our heartbreak, and we promise to carry their light forward so it never burns out.

It is profoundly sad that it took a tragedy of this magnitude to teach us the true meaning of unity. Looking around today, we see a nation deeply fractured, filled with walls of division and bitter hostility. We have forgotten the most sacred lesson of 9/11: when the smoke cleared, there were no political lines, no cultural divides, and no labels. There were only human beings holding onto each other for dear life.

We must learn how to live amongst ourselves again. We must find the grace to embrace one another, respect our differences, and lead with empathy. At the end of the day, we only have this one, fragile life to live. Let us not wait for another catastrophe to remind us that we are all brothers and sisters. Let us choose to stand together today, not in tragedy, but in love, kindness, and enduring hope.

Never forget. Forever remember. Unite.
