Deuel County Amateur Radio Club

Deuel County Amateur Radio Club. Our club is, obviously, about Amateur Radio. This is also known as Ham radio. Therefore a lot of people refer to us as Hams.

No this does not mean we are pigs, it is just a term that several people use. Though no one really knows why. Anyway, amateur radio is a service of self-training, inter-communications, and technical investigation carried on by amateurs; that is, by duly authorized persons interested in radio technique solely with a personal aim and without pecuniary interest.

If you are free on Monday August 5th evening the Brookings Club is having a picnic at Hillcrest Park shelters instead of the usual meeting. It is a pot luck. Bring your own meat for the grill and drinks, and a dish to share. Use the East side 17th Ave. parking lot.

Field Day this year will be at the Gun Club east of Brookings. We have had great luck there and is a nice open place with shelter. Will be running off generator with club trailer and tower trailer set. Bring you antennas you would like to check out and get help with. Lots of different stations to try.

The Deuel County Amateur Radio Club will NOT be having a Hamfest this year. Clear Lake has to much going on this year and there will be to many people in area to have the event. The camp grounds will be full up and other areas full also. Sounds like a major event coming in. We will have it next year at same time. Enjoy you summer.

As we do every year, the staff and members of the Deuel County Amateur Radio Club take a moment for a minute of silence to mark the anniversary of the passing of our elmer, our friend and the namesake of the club, WØGC, Gary Carlson.
It's been 9 years since he left this world and is still greatly missed.
