Heads up! Someone is pretending to be me, and I want to make sure the word gets out.

Today, a client reached out after receiving an email from someone impersonating me and Clayton NC Web Design.

The scammer claimed to have gotten a new computer, lost website access, and needed a new administrator account created.

That request did NOT come from me.

Thankfully, my client thought something seemed off and sent me a quick text to verify before taking any action.

Since we work with businesses throughout the community, including current clients, past clients, and prospective clients, I wanted to make sure everyone was aware.

If you receive an unexpected email claiming to be from me or Clayton NC Web Design, especially one requesting website access, please verify it with me directly before taking any action.

At this time, we have no indication that our systems have been compromised. This appears to be an impersonation attempt using a fraudulent Gmail address. ([email protected])

And a BIG thank-you to the client who trusted their instincts and reached out!

Scammers count on people acting before asking questions. Don't make it that easy for them.

Your venue whispers luxury.

Your website shouldn’t whisper so quietly nobody can read it. 😂

Soft colors, delicate fonts and beautiful photography absolutely belong in the wedding industry.
But somewhere along the way, “𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻𝘁” 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 “𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲.”

If prospective couples have to zoom in, squint, hunt for information or figure out which barely-there button they're supposed to click…

the design isn't doing its job.

You don’t have to sacrifice the aesthetic.

You just have to design it for the humans actually using it.

𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.
𝗟𝘂𝘅𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.

That’s the standard.

Wedding venue owners: open your website on your phone right now.
𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘇𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴?

Your fortune says: They visited. They looked around. They left. 👀

Not because they weren’t interested.

Maybe they simply couldn’t figure out what you wanted them to do next.

Call?
Book?
Request a quote?
Schedule a consultation?
Buy?
Learn more?

A good website shouldn’t make people work that hard.

Every page should have a purpose — and when someone is ready to take the next step, that step should be VERY obvious.

Because getting traffic to your website is only half the job.

Turning that traffic into action is where your website earns its keep.

Take a look at your website right now and ask yourself:

Within 5 seconds, would a brand-new visitor know exactly what I want them to do next?

If the answer is “maybe”… that’s probably a no. 😉

Want another set of eyes on it? Schedule a free Discovery Call with us. We’ll take a look at where your website is today and talk about where it needs to go next.

AI can help you create content faster.

It can also make your business sound exactly like everyone else. That’s the part small businesses need to be careful about.

Your brand is more than a prompt. It’s your voice, your experience, your point of view and the way customers recognize you.

In this post, we break down how small businesses can use AI as a tool without handing over the personality that makes their marketing actually work.

If you’re using AI for content, branding, social media or your website, this is worth a read.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗘’𝗩𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗡

Why are you still doing that manually?

A recent nonprofit project started with a pretty common problem:

They needed a better way to manage donations without creating more administrative work behind the scenes.

So instead of simply adding a donation form to the website, we built a connected system around it.

When someone makes a donation, the system can:

➡Automatically send a confirmation and receipt for tax purposes.
➡Add the donor to the organization’s email marketing list.
➡Apply tags so donors can be segmented for future campaigns and donation drives.
➡Organize donation data in a backend admin area.
➡Track donation activity over time.
➡Identify top donors.
➡See where donations are coming from geographically.
➡Monitor upcoming donation opportunities and pipeline activity.
➡And give the organization a much clearer picture of its fundraising activity without piecing everything together manually.

That’s the part of web development people don’t always see.

The visible piece might be a donation form.

The real value is everything the system does after someone clicks Donate.

A website doesn’t have to sit there waiting for someone to visit it.

It can collect information.

Organize it.

Connect systems.

Trigger follow-up.

Segment contacts.

Track activity.

Create dashboards.

And make the people running the organization’s job a whole lot easier.

So yes, we design websites.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆, 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗯.

If your business or organization is still moving information between forms, spreadsheets, email lists and different software platforms by hand...

there may be a much better way to build it.

10/05/2026

If running your business requires 14 steps, 3 spreadsheets and that ONE employee who knows how everything works… we need to talk. 👀

A lot of business processes don’t start out complicated.

They just… become complicated.

A form gets added.
Then a spreadsheet.
Then an email notification.
Then another piece of software.
Then someone has to manually move information from one place to another.

And before you know it, everyone has accepted the workaround as “just how we do it.”

But what if you didn’t have to?

Sometimes the answer isn’t another subscription or another piece of software.

Sometimes it’s building a system around how your business actually works.

That’s a big part of what we do at Clayton NC Web Design.

We don’t just build websites. We develop custom solutions that connect processes, eliminate unnecessary steps and make businesses easier to run.

What’s the most ridiculous workaround your business is still using?

Send us a message and tell us what you’re trying to accomplish. There may be a much better way to build it.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗻?

It sounds like a pretty boring question.

Until you're ready to launch your brand-new website and discover nobody knows the answer.

We recently had a longtime client decide to work with another company for their website redesign. No hard feelings- businesses change, ownership changes, relationships change. It happens.

The new company built the new website and eventually got to the point where they were ready to launch.

There was just one problem.

𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻.

When we built the previous website 3–4 years ago, we didn't control the domain. We simply provided instructions to the person responsible for it so they could make the necessary DNS update.

That person had since left.

Fast-forward a few years and apparently no one had stopped to verify who currently had access before the new website was built.

So there they were: new website ready to go, but no easy way to point the domain to it.

And believe me, after 20 years in this industry, we've seen much worse.

We've worked with businesses that discovered a former web designer controlled their domain and wouldn't release it. We've seen domains registered under the wrong person's account. We've seen businesses that simply had no idea where their domain was registered or who had the login.

Unfortunately, the web industry doesn't have a lot of guardrails around this stuff.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 $𝟮𝟬-𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀.

And this one is incredibly easy to check.

Find out:

• Where is your domain registered?
• Whose name/email is on the account?
• Who has the login?
• Does the business have access independent of an employee, developer or marketing company?
• Is the recovery information current?

You don't necessarily need to personally manage your DNS or make technical changes yourself.

But 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲.

So I'm curious...

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄?

Vote in the poll- and if your answer is “𝙄 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠,” this is your sign to actually check. 😉

Your spa website might actually be too pretty.

Yes, we said it.

Soft neutrals, elegant fonts, dreamy photography and minimal layouts can absolutely create a luxury feel.

But when the text is hard to read, the navigation is too subtle, or your BOOK NOW button practically disappears into the design?

Pretty starts getting expensive.

A spa website has two jobs:

➡Create the right feeling.

➡And make it ridiculously easy for someone to take the next step.

Your visitors should be able to quickly understand:

What you offer
Which treatment is right for them
What it costs
Who they'll be working with
How to book

Because a beautiful website that makes people work too hard is still creating friction.

And friction can cost bookings.

If your website looks beautiful but the customer journey feels harder than it should, let's talk.

It started innocently.

Someone created a spreadsheet.

Then another spreadsheet.

Then an email template.

Then a shared folder.

Then someone had to take information from the form and enter it into another system.

Three years later, four people know the exact 14-step process required to make everything work.

That's usually when we start asking:

Why are we doing it this way?

Sometimes the answer isn't another piece of software.

Sometimes it's developing a better system.

What process in your business has become way more complicated than it should be?

If your team has built a workaround just to get the job done, show it to us. We build custom systems designed around the way your business actually works.
