Twenty-five years ago the first PC virus arrived. Then it was news. It became almost a daily event.
Around 2003, the threat landscape evolved again. Instead of random attacks, today’s cybercriminal has a purpose. Their intention? Get as much money illegally as possible.
Jim calls former viruses - now malware/spyware/worms/trojans/ransomeware
"Bad Stuff".... Simple name and seem to better represent the threats. Help us promote it!!!
There is NO anti-bad-stuff program to protect you so we must work together to install the best of program as we can, be vigilant & be careful.

Here is a Better Business Bureau posting on more of the same type of scams, but this one was from a call from "Dell" that was not Dell, but someone posing as Dell...
Check out the video below and TELL ALL your friends and family to not fall for this calling or pop-ups!!!!
http://www.bbb.org/cincinnati/news-events/bbb-in-the-news/2016/04/wcpo-tech-scam/
NEVER let a stranger connect to your computer & do not give Credit card details to strangers!!

Whether you are a Microsoft or an Apple user, BBB warns don’t be fooled by a pop-up alert stating your computer has been hacked.

Now another SCAM... You get a pop up on your screen telling you there is a bad problem on your computer....It may even say it is from a known vendor like Norton.. It tells you to call a number for help... Do NOT DO THIS!! just close out that screen.... If this came up after opening an attachment in an Email or clicking on a link or going to a Web site.. Then call us asap. You may have "Bad stuff" & we will need to get it cleaned off.

Please be on the lookout for people calling saying your computer communicated with them & is telling them you have a problem.... This is a scam!!! You computer communicates with NO ONE.... they are random calls or they bought a list of computer owners from a vendor.. Do NOT let them connect to your computer!! It is a scam... They will create a problem & then offer to fix it... FOR $... QUESTIONS? Call our office during the day 513-794-1780 or my cell after hours or weekends... Call Before you become a victim! Just hang up on the caller!

Important Safety Recall announced- HP AC Power Cord Replacement Program

Important Safety Announcement
HP Notebook PC AC Power Cord Safety Recall and Replacement Program

You are receiving this notice because HP has announced, in cooperation with various government regulatory agencies, a worldwide voluntary AC power cord recall program. HP records show that you have registered a product that may be affected. The AC power cords have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

The affected AC power cords were sold from September 2010 through June 2012 and distributed worldwide with HP and Compaq notebook (including mobile thin clients and mobile workstations), and mini notebook computers, as well as with AC adapters provided with accessories such as docking stations.

HP’s primary concern is for your safety. To reduce the likelihood of damage from a power cord failure, stop using your power cord immediately until you have determined whether your power cord is affected.

The AC power cords can be identified by an “LS-15” molded mark on the adapter end of the cord. Not all of the AC power cords with the “LS-15” mark are affected.

To determine if your AC power cord is affected by this recall, visit the HP Notebook PC AC Power Cord Replacement Program website at http://www.hp.com/support/PowerCordReplacement. If the validation indicates that your power cord is affected, HP will mail a replacement power cord to you at no cost.

Note: The validation process may show that your AC power cord is not affected by this replacement program. If your power cord is not affected, you may continue use of the power cord in your possession.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Sincerely,

Hewlett-Packard Company

5 Passwords You Should Never Use:
1. Password. Believe it or not, this is still a common password.
2. Letmein. We recommend that you use pass phrases that are memorable. Just don’t use this one. It ranks high on several lists of the most-used passwords.
3. Monkey. This common word appears on many lists of popular passwords. It’s also too short. Make passwords at least eight characters—the longer the better.
4. Your pet’s name. While you’re at it, don’t use any passwords that can be easily guessed, such as the name of your spouse or partner, your nickname, birth date, address, or driver's license number.
5. 12345678. Avoid this and other sequences or repeated characters such as 222222, abcdefg, or adjacent letters on your keyboard (such as qwerty).
