Cybersecurity Alert: The Amazon Recall Text Scam Here’s how it works. ⬇️

You get a text saying a product you recently purchased has been recalled. It looks legitimate, references your “recent order,” and tells you to log in to claim your refund before the deadline.

You click the link. It takes you to what looks exactly like Amazon’s login page. You enter your credentials. And just like that, your account is compromised.

The reason it works? Timing. It doesn’t need to know what you bought, it just needs you to assume it does.

If you receive this text:

✔ Do not click any links
✔ Go directly to Amazon.com by typing it into your browser
✔ Check your orders inside the app or website
✔ Report the text as spam and delete it
✔ If you already clicked and entered your info, change your password immediately and enable two-factor authentication

Business owners, take note. Employees who order work items through personal Amazon accounts on company devices put more than their own account at risk.

Slowing down for ten seconds before clicking anything is still one of the most effective cybersecurity habits you can build.

No… you don’t need to delete your voicemail.

If someone wants your voice, they’re going to get it. Social media, videos, even a quick “hello” on a phone call.

So removing your voicemail doesn’t really add the layer of protection you’re looking for.

The situations that cost people money are always urgent. A quick transfer. A vendor change. Someone you trust needing something fast.

The move here is simple. Have a code word.

Something your family or your team has to use before money moves or anything important changes.

Because hackers can have your voice but they won’t have the code word.

Your voice isn’t secure anymore so make sure your verification is.

If your answer isn’t immediately, you need ITDR.

Most companies don’t catch email compromises until money moves, a weird email gets sent, or a client flags it and reaches out.

At that point, you’re reacting, recovering, and spending the majority of your day saving your reputation with your clients.

ITDR keeps an eye on things like:

• logins from places that don’t make sense
• changes inside the account that shouldn’t be there
• activity that doesn’t match how the user normally works

So you know when something’s wrong while it’s happening not after the damage is done.
