We are deeply saddened by the passing of Thomas R. Donovan, our founding Chairman, mentor, and friend. Tom left us on Sunday, and his absence is felt in every corner of Quantum Crossings. He was more than a leader—he was the steady hand, the wise voice, and the heart of our organization.
For more than 25 years, Tom was actively involved in building Quantum Crossings into a trusted technology company, one known for integrity, innovation, and service. He believed that great companies are built by great people, and he poured his energy into supporting, encouraging, and challenging every one of us. His pride in this team and in the work we do was unmistakable.
Tom’s story is woven into the fabric of Chicago itself. Before building Quantum Crossings, he played a defining role in shaping the city’s political and economic landscape. As former President and CEO of the Chicago Board of Trade and Chief of Staff to Mayors Richard J. Daley and Michael Bilandic, Tom stood at the center of some of the most pivotal moments in Chicago’s modern history. He was known as a “master politician,” someone who understood people as deeply as he understood policy. His influence reached from City Hall to Springfield, and from LaSalle Street to Washington, D.C.
But to us, Tom was the person who believed in people—who encouraged, challenged, and inspired us. He built Quantum Crossings with the conviction that integrity, loyalty, and hard work could still define a company. He treated every employee with respect, and he made each of us feel like we were part of something meaningful.
We will miss his humor, his stories, his sharp insight, and the way he made every room feel grounded the moment he walked in. Most of all, we will miss the man who cared deeply about his family, his city, and the people who worked beside him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Vita, their children Kevin, John Thomas, and Grace, and his beloved granddaughters, Kelsey and “Baby” Vita.
Tom’s legacy will continue to guide us—today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
