Access Tip: Is a query with functions crawling? Try splitting it in two.
When you use functions in a query’s Field row, Access may evaluate those functions across far more rows than necessary, especially when the query is also filtering data.
A simple fix:
1. Start with a query that applies your criteria and returns only the records you need.
2. Create a second query based on that first query.
3. Move your functions into the second query.
Now, the functions only run against the smaller result set, which can help your query run faster.
Small query design changes can make a big difference.
