The Center of Higher Development (COHD) is a nonprofit organization that provides FREE computer training, workforce development, job readiness skills, practical life skills, G.E.D. courses, adult basic education, after school programs, and volunteer and internship programs with the purpose of eliminating the Digital Divide in under-served communities. Organized in 1992 by Rev. Walter Gillespie as

a single site after-school program, COHD now operates fourteen community technology centers througout the Chicagoland area. We work to:

- Prepare adults for the new online GED test
- Increase computer literacy skills among community members by providing basic typing skills enrichment, financial literary resources, and printing/copying/faxing services
- Aid jobseekers with workforce development, resume and cover letter preparation, as employment and job readiness information
- Provide children from local schools with after-school programs and tutoring on a number of subjects

Registration is still open for our summer camp! It runs from June 23rd to August 15th, 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday. It's open to all kids aged 7 to 14.

Registration for our After School Program is on-going. It is offered Monday through Friday, 2:30pm -6:00pm, for students in grades 1st - 12th.

We have an Open Computer Lab on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:30am - 12:00pm. Come by if you need to use the computer, fax machine, or printer, provided you've filled out a registration form.

Interested in taking a class or using the COHD computer lab? Contact the center at: (888-317-5480) to receive a registration form. Once it's been completed and returned to the COHD, you can begin taking classes and using the computer lab. All youth forms MUST be completed by an adult.
