Come have a drink with us! Join us for Drink & Draw with guest artist Wynn Droz.

This month, we’re making collaborative, Frankensteined comic strips—and nobody gets to see the plot until the very end. We’ll start with 20 minutes to draw as many wordless three-panel comics as possible, take 10 minutes to write a pile of standalone speech bubbles, and then pair up panels and dialogue created by other participants to assemble brand-new comic strips.

Once the stories are put together, we’ll compile everyone’s finished pages into a Risographed zine.

We provide the drinks—you just bring yourself (and your friends, and your family; children are always welcome).

Risograph printing was practically made for experimental storytelling.

Starting Oct 4, Zines and Narrative Forms is a 4-week class on creating comics, DIY guides, and narratives on the Riso. We’ll look at indie authors for inspiration and get you authorized on the machines during class one so you can start printing right away.

We’re excited to welcome Adam Jaye Porter () for a residency at Spudnik Press from September 28 through November 9.

Adam’s work uses reductive relief and screen printing to explore how ink, pattern, and color interact with projected light. During his residency, he’ll be working with seamless repeat patterns, collage, and q***r archival imagery to build a modular wall installation that plays with subtle optical illusions .

Applications are open for volunteer Studio Monitors for the upcoming 6-month cycle.

Monitors run one 4-hour Open Studio shift per week—checking in guests, taking payments, helping with basic troubleshooting, and keeping the space clean. In return, monitors get 24/7 keyholder access, a flat file drawer, tech training, and authorization on all shop equipment.

Applicants must be able to print independently.

Applications close October 4. Shifts start the week of October 26.

You’ll leave with an edition of prints and authorization to print in relief at Spudnik.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, tomorrow’s Flat File Happy Hour is canceled (Thursday, September 24).

We were looking forward to opening up the flat files and sharing work that has never been on view in person as apart of our annual print drive. So instead, we’re bringing a selection of it to you here.

We’re starting with work by Kacie Lees, who was a 2026 Artist in Residence at Spudnik Press. During her residency, Kacie developed new prints using thermally responsive inks and high-visibility reflective fabrics, drawing on early 20th-century pseudosciences like Rorschach tests and Thought Forms. The resulting work plays with pattern, perception, and the question of how we make the invisible visible.

We’re sorry to miss you tomorrow, but we hope you enjoy this little peek into the flat files. And if you’re looking for a reason to come by the studio, we’ve got a ton of new classes up on our website.

Sessions combine reading alternative comics, setting up digital and analog files, and learning the machines. Certification happens in week one, opening up the remaining time for printing self-published work.
