Two of my favorite things are commerce and data, so I'm excited to share a personal project I've been building this summer: two free trackers on retailgeek.com.
https://retailgeek.com/comps is a comp sales tracker for 52 public U.S. retailers. Every number comes straight from the company's own press release, 10-Q or 10-K, quarter by quarter since 2019. Store comps and digital growth side by side, nothing modeled, nothing normalized.
https://retailgeek.com/retail is U.S. retail sales by category from Census Bureau data, monthly and quarterly. The part I'm most proud of is the real vs nominal view: it shows how much of each category's growth was actually inflation. Spoiler for August: most of it.
Both update as soon as new data lands. Let me know what would make them more useful, and what you'd want tracked next.
