The Wattson Madison Amplifier has received a new review from Audiotechnique. The original article is in Chinese, but several passages are worth sharing here in English.
What stands out in this review is its focus on the amplifier’s combination of physical restraint and musical authority. Rather than treating compactness as compromise, the reviewer hears it as part of the amplifier’s achievement:
“A new model of Swiss audio craftsmanship.”
“It successfully merges compactness and high performance.”
The listening impressions are equally telling. The reviewer was struck first by the amplifier’s sense of speed and immediacy:
“Its speed and transient response immediately captivated me.”
Just as important, that quickness was not heard as thinness or mere excitement. On the contrary:
“It did not sacrifice detail in the name of musicality.”
And perhaps the most revealing line in the piece is this one:
“The more familiar one is with high-end equipment, the more one will appreciate its understated craftsmanship and beautiful sound.”
We are grateful to Audiotechnique for a review that recognizes both the engineering discipline and the musical intelligence behind the Madison Amplifier.
