Growing personal financial anxiety impacts workplace performance as employees struggle to keep up with rising costs of living. PwC’s 2026 Employee Financial Wellness Survey found 59% of respondents felt stressed about their finances, and 53% had less than $5,000 saved for unexpected expenses. Findings from a report from The Hartford revealed that 56% of workers admitted this stress harms their overall workplace productivity. To combat this trend, more employers introduce financial literacy tools to help workers manage debt, handle budgeting and better navigate their corporate benefits. Data showed providing wellness offerings yielded strong results, as 83% of Gen Z and 79% of Millennial employees adopted employer-provided financial services.

Cava is fueling nationwide expansion by hiring more than 2,500 new employees. The Mediterranean fast-casual chain’s goal sets to increase its total team member count by 19% to support a pipeline of over 75 new restaurants opening. The brand anchors this workforce growth in its “Flavor Your Future” platform, an initiative designed to build clear advancement pathways and retain internal employees. Cava surpassed its annual target of hiring 150 assistant general managers to provide extra leadership support during high-traffic dinner and weekend shifts. The organization is also boosting corporate benefits by having all restaurant general managers eligible for long-term incentive equity grants.

With the expanding retail sector footprint, comes an increase in job growth. Burlington plans to open 115 new stores by the end of January 2027 throughout the United States, paving the way for new employment opportunities. This aggressive strategy coincides with the retail chain’s strong financial performance, which recently posted a 14% revenue gain. While Burlington’s recent report didn’t specify an exact number of hires for their new locations, this rollout underscores a reliance on physical store employees.

The medical sector has the highest earning jobs in the U.S., as specialized roles claimed the top spots. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, pediatric surgeons lead the list of highest-paying jobs in the country, with an average salary of $450,800. Other critical medical specialists also had high compensation figures, including cardiologists at $432,400 and radiologists at $359,800. The high earnings reflected the extensive residency training, specialized fellowship programs and intensive diagnostic responsibilities required to manage complex patient health conditions.
