Most security programs focus on rules. Don’t click suspicious links. Use a strong password.
But policies and training aren’t enough on their own. A majority of breaches (62% according to Verizon's 2026 Data Breach Investigations Report) involve the human element.
That’s not a reason to blame your team. It’s a reason to bring them in, because your people are your best defense.
Strong security culture starts at the top. When leaders discuss security openly, model good habits, and recognize people who speak up, mistakes are reported faster and threats are caught sooner.
Culture isn’t built in a month, but Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a great place to start.
