My grandfather, Otis “Tank” Brooks, never met a stranger.

As a kid, I thought he was just being friendly.

Today, I realize he was teaching me something much deeper.

Don’t judge people by what they look like. Judge them by whether they show up.

Throughout the Kingville Project, some of our biggest supporters have come from every walk of life. They’ve shown up with encouragement, expertise, resources, and a shared commitment to preserving history.

Purpose doesn’t have a preferred skin tone.

Surround yourself with people who love truth, value service, and are willing to do the work.

Character creates allies. Purpose introduces them.

My grandfather, Otis “Tank” Brooks, aka ‘DA MAYOR’ of Kingville never met a stranger.

As a kid, I thought he was just being friendly.

Today, I realize he was teaching me something much deeper.

Throughout this journey of THE KINGVILLE PROJECT, I’ve been blessed by people from every walk of life. Some share my background. Others don’t. What they all have in common is a commitment to truth, service, and preserving history.
