Eat. Sleep. Pilates. Just like our hats state!

The 3 of us usually share the barre studio at EBY, but lately we’ve been on the other side of the room as students, working through multiple levels of Classical Pilates mat training with a wonderful group!

I’ll always be a student of the human body, and there’s something special about learning alongside others who share that same curiosity and passion for movement.

The older I get, and the deeper I dive into learning about the importance of rest and recovery, the more I realize that self-care isn’t always another thing to add to the list.

Sometimes it’s intentionally getting quieter. Embracing a slower morning. Giving yourself permission to do absolutely nothing productive for a little while, or even for an entire day.

Today, that looks like a slow Sunday morning, extra cuddles, another cup of coffee, and giving my body the rest it needs.

The supplements I take changes, because my needs change.

My supplement routine isn’t exactly the same every day or every season. It shifts based on my activity level, how I’m feeling, what I’m eating and what I’m trying to support at that point in time.

This is part of my current stack, along with things like protein powder and creatine, but it isn’t a checklist for anyone else.

When I choose supplements, I care about quality ingredients, minimal unnecessary fillers, appropriate forms and dosages, and most importantly, actually having a reason for taking them.

What works for me may not be what works for you. Your nutrition, lifestyle, medications, labs, goals and individual needs all matter.

And just because something works for your friend, your sister or someone you follow online doesn’t automatically mean it belongs in your routine.

I’ve never shared this scar before.

For years, I covered it like it was something to hide. This summer, I decided I was done with that.

This scar is from multiple spinal surgeries including a T4-L4 spinal fusion, and for a long time I thought it made me look different in a way I should cover up.

Pilates, Barre, and strength training have changed the way I think about my body. I care a lot more about what it can do than whether every part of it looks perfect.

So this summer, I stopped dressing around my scar. I bought the open-back tops from TAVI® . I wore them with pride.

And maybe sharing this is just a small way of saying that the parts of our story we spent years hiding do not have to stay hidden. If this helps someone feel a little more comfortable, a little more confident, or a little more proud of their own journey, then it was worth sharing.

Walking doesn’t have to mean chasing 10,000 steps.

A few minutes between meetings, a lap around the block, an after-meal stroll, a walk with your pup (mine is Cloud). It all counts.

The goal is to keep your body moving in a way that feels good and fits your life.

Working out more doesn’t automatically mean you should be eating less.

As training increases, so does your body’s demand for energy, protein, carbohydrates, fluids and recovery.

If you’re constantly hungry, dragging later in the day, unusually sore, sleeping poorly or suddenly finding your workouts harder, it may be worth looking at how well you’re fueling before deciding you need to train even more.

Start with the basics:
• Protein at each meal
• Carbs to support training
• Enough food overall
• Hydration + electrolytes
• Actual recovery days

Sometimes the next step isn’t another workout. It’s giving your body more of what it needs to respond to the work you’re already doing.

Beginner Mat test-out ✔️

First little milestone on the road to 600 hours, and even better getting to do this part of the program alongside my EBY barre babes.

One test-out down. A whole lot more to go!

Hormones. Autoimmune health. Spinal fusion. Chronic nerve pain. Nutrition. Mobility. Barre. Pilates. Dance. And learning how to work with my body instead of constantly fighting against it.

That’s what my mid-40s has evolved into!

There is so much noise about how we should be eating, how we should be working out, what the latest study says, what we should avoid, what we should add, and what we’re supposedly doing wrong.

Research matters. Clinical studies matter. But no study knows your body the way you do.

I believe deeply in what we put into our bodies. And I also believe in building muscle, protecting our bones, staying mobile, understanding our hormones, and creating a body that can keep doing the things we love for a very long time.

The goal isn’t to do everything perfectly. It’s to stop letting fear, overwhelm and too much information keep you from doing anything at all. Take one small step to do something good for you!

This feels vulnerable to share, but it also feels important.

Over the last few years, I’ve lost over 50 pounds... that’s me in the hot pink top.

But the number isn’t really the story.

For a long time, I hid how much weight I had gained. As a nutritionist, that carried a lot of shame. I felt like I should have had all the answers, but my body was dealing with more than willpower or calories. Hormones, thyroid, stress, and life all played a role.

What changed wasn’t one perfect plan. It was a lot of pieces slowly coming together.

Barre, Pilates, walking, weights, hormone and thyroid support, and learning how to stay consistent while working around back and nerve pain.

The physical part mattered, but the mental part was just as big. Fitness became less about punishing my body and more about coming back to myself.

And community has been such a huge piece of that. Being in rooms like this, with people simply showing up, moving, laughing, and trying their best, makes the process feel less lonely.

This journey has been physical, mental, and hormonal. It hasn’t been quick or perfect, but I feel stronger, healthier, more grounded, and finally like my body is working with me again. 💗🩰🦋
