How to create a strong password.
Use long, memorable passphrases (4+ random words or a long sentence), add at least one digit and symbol, use a password manager so every account gets a unique password, and turn on 2‑factor authentication (2FA) wherever possible.
Example of a strong password.
Maple Orchid Breeze Juniper!9
* It’s a passphrase made of four random words + one symbol (and you could add a digit or capitalize some words).
* It contains a space (between words) many systems allow spaces and that increases entropy.
Why this is strong (rules behind it)
1. Length beats complexity — longer passphrases give much more entropy than short complex strings.
2. Random words (diceware-style) — picking several unrelated words gives high entropy but stays memorable.
3. Add a symbol / digit / capitalization to increase entropy further and break common-pattern attacks.
4. Unique per site + password manager — prevents one breach from compromising all accounts.
5. 2FA — even a strong password can be bypassed if attacker steals an OTP seed or session, so 2FA greatly reduces risk.
Without 2FA it would take at least a century to crack this password
