Cart abandonment gets a dashboard. Quote abandonment gets a shared inbox.
How many quotes did your team receive last month? How long did each take to go out? How many quietly died?

Most B2B teams can’t answer any of those, and it’s the process that touches their largest orders.

The fix starts with admitting not every order needs a quote. Reorders and standard items at contract pricing can go straight to self-service. Negotiated deals keep the rep but lose the dueling PDFs and the re-keying. Engineer-to-order comes last, not first.

The graphic shows how to sort yours. The full breakdown is on the blog.

🤨 Which one does an AI shopping agent believe?
-Your product page says $1,249, in stock.
-Your schema says $1,299.
-Your Merchant Center feed says backorder.

On most enterprise sites, product facts are published three separate ways, by three different systems, on three different schedules. They drift. Google disapproves items over price and availability mismatches, and AI tools that cross-check sources have less reason to trust you.

The fix isn't a better audit. It's architecture: generate the page, the schema and every feed from one product record, then run a daily parity check.

In AI shopping, your product data is the shelf. More on fixing on the blog.

You launched a customer portal, but your team is still taking orders by phone and email. Sound familiar?

Buyers will only switch to your website when it's faster than calling. That comes down to four things: they can see their prices, trust the stock and lead times, reorder in a click, and find product specs right on the page. Miss one, and they'll keep picking up the phone.

Swipe through for the four must-haves and a simple way to show your leadership what manual orders are really costing you.

Thinking about buying a PIM (product information management) system? Answer these four questions first.

If your product data feeds several systems, your team spends hours fixing it by hand, and updates take days to show up everywhere, a PIM is probably worth it. If not, you may just need clearer ownership and better habits. A new tool won't fix a process problem.

Get the full decision guide, including when not to buy one:

Your buyers are asking ChatGPT and other AI tools which suppliers to consider. Do you know what those tools say about your company?

Most teams have never checked. AI answers don't match your typical search engines and ranking sites. They can describe you correctly, get your products wrong, recommend a competitor, or leave you out entirely.

The good news is you can find out in one afternoon. Swipe through for a simple 5-step check, with nothing more than a spreadsheet.

Unpopular opinion in a year of AI demos: adding AI search to a messy catalog doesn't fix the problem. It hides it.

When product data is broken, search is visibly broken. Zero results. Obvious misses. Everyone can see it.

When you layer AI on top of that same data, it stops looking broken. It starts producing confident answers built on specs that were never entered and attributes stored three different ways. Confidently wrong is harder to catch than obviously empty, and it reaches your buyers before anyone notices.

The sequencing we keep coming back to with enterprise teams:
→ Clean the product data
→ Close the gap between buyer language and catalog language
→ Then let AI multiply the value of both

This is why the highest-return AI investment in B2B commerce is usually the least demo-able one. Catalog enrichment doesn't look impressive on a slide. It's also the thing that makes every AI investment after it cheaper and more likely to work.

What are you seeing on your own stack: is your data ready for the AI you've already bought?

Your buyer has the part in their hand. They type what they call it into your search bar. Your site returns nothing. They don't conclude they typed the wrong words. They conclude you don't carry it.

Here's a simple exercise you can run this week:
1. Pull your top 100 zero-result search terms from the last 90 days
2. Sort by frequency
3. Check how many of those products you actually sell

In our experience at Echidna, three things will be true. You carry most of them. The words buyers used don't match your product names. And a short list of synonym fixes will cover a surprising share of the volume.

Agentic commerce is real, and so is the gap between the headlines and what agents can reliably do in B2B today. Agents handle research, comparison, and structured reordering well. Negotiated pricing, complex configuration, and multi-party approvals still break them.

That line between capable and not-yet determines what to prepare for now versus what can wait. One thing is true on both sides of it: agents can only work with product data they can read.
