Zombie Router! This isn't going to be a long-winded post on security for your router (Link3)
This post is about using DD-WRT and the handy management app that is available for your phone. I have used DD-WRT for years on every router I have ever owned. Here are a few small reasons. 1. Will always be running the most updated kernel, webserver, and security patches. 2. FEATURES! Lots of things are available in DD-WRT that are not available with your stock Linksys, Netgear, or ASUS. This goes for new and older equipment. 3. POWER! You can crank up the juice and fry small animals and children from your home. I assume this is true since I never hear any crickets or see any scorpions.
With a wide availability of compatible hardware, check out the site and get to installing (Link1). When you are finished you will want to install the monitoring and management app on your phone. (Link2)
