It's my first time painting outdoors in our beautiful backyard. It's beginning to get warm(er) here in Arizona, but the breeze was okay this morning, and I enjoyed working with 80s music in the background. Although, I guess it took me 30 minutes going back & forth just preparing my materials. Do you guys do this or it's just me? 🤣

This exercise is honestly challenging for me because although explained everything... and she is sooooo good, btw... I can't seem to mix the right colors and get the technique right. I almost wanted to give up and throw the canvas away. LOL

My youngest daughter just reminded me Bob Ross' quote on "happy accidents," so I just remedied everything with white. Turns out (not bad) okay anyway. 🤷‍♀️😄

Pre-thanksgiving portrait practice done in 3 hours. 🎉 I used a 5.5"x8.5" mixed media paper and color-erase pencils on the initial sketch. After sketching, I used colour charcoal pencils to add colors to it. My biggest challenge is facial contouring because I tend to over-paint and have not really dug into shadow/light technique. I haven't taught myself that yet but I will keep practicing.
