Once a month I attend Tech Tuesday at Trinity Landing senior living and assist seniors with computer, Ipad and phone issues they are having. Yesterday, one of the residents had different passwords for different devices, so I worked with her to get some consistency for easier access. It's always something different and I enjoy helping them out.

One way to keep your computer running smoothly, and your phone, is to clean out your Google email. Here are some things to do: 1) remove individual emails that you don't need daily 2) if you get a lot of unwanted emails, do a bulk cleanse. 3) Check your Spam folder and delete those. 4) check all folders, not just the main folder and delete 5) empty your trash and lastly 6) unsubscribe to unwanted emails.

It's been 2 1/2 years since moving the business to NC and it's going well. However, I've been a little weak in keeping this site updated over that time, so Bonnie is stepping in to take over my social media posting. If there's anything that you'd like to see on FB, let us know. She ran H&ONS operations for 15 years and while she teaches college business classes now part time, she's finding the time to help me build social media relationships. Expect to see more tips, photos, videos, etc. here in the near future.

Welcome to September!! Our minds switch to fall colors, pumpkin spice and holiday shopping! Unfortunately the bad guys know this and are always coming up with new ways to capture your purchase information.

We've heard of credit card skimmers being used at ATMs, gas pumps, etc. Well, there is a new thing going on where they can harvest that information from your online purchases using fake screens embedded into real websites. The following article goes into the details (with some technical info too) on how it is done. Bottom line, use good antivirus/malware programs for protection and don't click without knowing that you are in a trusted website when you purchase online.

For those of you wondering about the CrowdStrike/Microsoft outage that brought businesses to their knees a week ago you may find the first 1/3 of this article interesting. It's a pretty clear explanation of what happened and the cause. The latter portions of the article are about what can be done to prevent future events.
