Anyone looking for a brand new CD player?

I bought this Yamaha CD-S303 so I could stream Spotify through my garage system. Unfortunately, unlike the previous version, the CD-S300 (which I also have), the S303 won't recognize iphones or tablets and the USB port only works with memory sticks. Not what I was after.

Otherwise this is a great CD player and one of the few affordable single disc players left on the market.

If you want it, just pay me $379.95 which is what I paid for it. You'll get the box, manuals, remote and all of that. Local pickup in Casper. Shipping? I will at your expense, but you can probably get free shipping through Best Buy or Crutchfield.

Just finished a recone of a pair of Cerwin-Vega woofers. Reconing can look daunting as you're basically removing all of the speaker down to the metal basket and magnet. The key is to make sure everything is cleaned and keep dirt and anything else away from the magnet. Obviously a bit more invasive than a refoam but there are times when the voice coil is damaged or the cone is torn - and it makes sense to just start over. The downside is not all kits are perfect matches to the originals so you need to be careful when you do this job.

FOR SALE - Today we have a very nice Dual CS 608 turntable from roughly 1980. Though now most people only recognize Dual as the name on a bunch of cheap car stereos, this German company was at one time one of the largest makers of turntables - and makers of some of the best.

The CS 608 features an ultra low mass tonearm, Ortofon TM 14 cartridge and automatic return. The dust cover is very nice with no cracks and only a small scratch on the front center portion. This table is not a quartz lock and the pitch control can be a bit touchy, but once you get it set, it stays set.

This example is in extremely good condition and plays well.

FOR SALE - Standard Radio Corporation was a Japanese company that became Marantz Japan in 1975. They produced some interesting smaller audio equipment including this SR-A100 TU AM/FM tuner. Typically this would have come with a 25 watt per channel integrated amplifier - but sadly it's long gone. In any event this is a very nice sounding tuner that works well. Nothing wrong with this one and doesn't take up a lot of space (it's about 3/4ths the size of a normal tuner).

FOR SALE - Nice little Technics SU-8011 integrated amplifier. Works well and seems to play well with the Marantz speakers. Cool power meter that lights up in red. 25 watts per channel at .08% total harmonic distortion. Has a phono input and one aux input.

FOR SALE - Here we have a good looking pair of Marantz HLM 208A speakers. Very good condition and sound just fine. They're a true bookshelf size and are a good option for the den or the bedroom or even to get the youngsters hooked on audio! These speakers don't require 1000 watts of power instead a good amp around 10 - 25 watts per channel will make them sing. All around great condition and ready to go.

Are your old speakers tired and worn out? Don't toss them, revive them!

Over time crossover capacitors dry out, leak or even go full Alien blowing their guts all over the inside of your speakers. Also woofers and mids are held in place with, typically, foam surrounds. These also dry out and become brittle.

These are easy fixes! Surround kits exist for virtually any speaker, even those with rubber surrounds. Kits for single woofer speakers (one pair) average around $30. My charge then is $25 for each speaker refoamed plus the cost of the surround kit. Heck, we can even save those Panasonic Thrusters!!

Crossover rebuilds are necessary if your speakers are over 20-30 years old (sometimes), or if your speakers sound "out of tune." Resistors typically never go bad so if you have a dull or slightly off sound from your speaks, a recap is in order. Prices vary depending on the costs of the caps and the complexity of the crossover.

Just let me know what you have and what's going on with them. I only charge the surround kit price up front and treat each refoam as if I was doing it on my own.

FOR SALE - This is a beautiful Sansui SR-1050C manual turntable, from one of the finest table makers of the vintage years. Re-greased, calibrated and ready to spin some vinyl. Dust cover is about as good as can be for a 45+ year-old table. Comes with a brand new Ortofon cartridge. Plug and play - all day!

FOR SALE - This is a very nice Teac 1230 4 track, 2 channel reel to reel. Functions well though may have a bit of static in mic, line and output pots. No big deal, you'll set those and leave them. Plays nicely. Lights and counter works. Missing part of the logo: the 1230 emblem. If I do find one online, I'll replace it. A good, basic R2R to stare at as those reels turn!
