Public Pool Reminder – Help Us Keep Our Pool Clean, Safe, and Family-Friendly 🏊

The City of Carrizo Springs would like to remind all pool patrons of the importance of following pool rules and practicing good housekeeping while enjoying our public pool facilities.

Recently, staff have observed excessive trash being left behind, creating unnecessary cleanup and safety concerns. We ask everyone to do their part by following these rules:

βœ… Clean up all trash before leaving
βœ… Use trash receptacles provided throughout the facility
βœ… Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times
βœ… Follow all posted pool safety rules and lifeguard instructions
❌ No chewing gum allowed in the pool area
❌ No glass bottles or glass containers allowed inside the facility

We currently allow patrons to bring their own snacks and food into the pool area as a convenience to our community. However, this privilege depends on everyone helping keep the facility clean and safe. If housekeeping issues continue, the City may need to revise its food and beverage policies.

We appreciate your cooperation and your help in maintaining a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment for all residents and visitors. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community pool a place everyone can enjoy!

New World Screwworm Alert – Information from Our Local Game Warden

The City of Carrizo Springs is sharing important information provided by Dimmit County Game Warden Macee Krpec regarding the potential spread of the New World Screwworm (NWS) in our region.

Cases have been reported in Zavala County and La Salle County, so residents, ranchers, hunters, and pet owners should remain vigilant and monitor animals for signs of infestation.

πŸ” What to Watch For:
β€’ Open sores or wounds containing live maggots
β€’ Animals shaking their heads or showing signs of irritation
β€’ Foul odor coming from a wound
β€’ Infestations around the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, or other wounds

⚠️ Important: Only LIVE maggots found on a LIVE animal should be collected and reported for testing. Dead animals with maggots or flies will not be collected for testing.

πŸ„πŸ• All warm-blooded animals can be affected, including livestock, wildlife, pets, and, in rare cases, humans.

πŸ“ž Report Suspected Cases Immediately:
β€’ Livestock or Domestic Pets: (800) 550-8242
β€’ Wildlife: (512) 389-4505
β€’ Humans: (888) 963-7111

Early detection is critical to preventing the spread of New World Screwworm infestations. Please review the attached information and share it with friends, family, neighbors, and fellow animal owners.

We appreciate Game Warden Macee Krpec and Texas Parks & Wildlife for helping keep our community informed.
