Youth Day 2026: Yesterday, Electric Cooperatives from all across Illinois brought students from their local service area to meet legislators and learn more about cooperatives. Thekla C. from Carlinville was the student representative from MJM and she will be attending Youth Illinois Youth to Washington Tour in Washington D.C. this coming June!

A big thanks to the AIEC for organizing this great event and to the legislators that took time to meet with all the students!

NISC will be performing payment gateway maintenance on Wednesday evening, 03/25/2026 at 11:59pm CST.

We expect the maintenance window to be approximately 2 hours, during which associated payment channels (SmartHub, E-bill, MCM Payments and Recurring cards) will not be available. During the maintenance window when members try to make a payment in SmartHub they will be redirected to a page indicating the website is down for maintenance.

UPDATE 3/24/26 9:53am: Work completed & power has been restored. Thank you.

UPDATE 3/24/26 8am: Members between the location of the substation and RT 16 will also be included in the outage as linecrews discovered they will need to turn the full north feeder off to safely complete this pole exchange. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Butler Substation (North), scheduled at 9am on Tuesday, 3/24/26:
Crews are set to replace a large three-phase pole that was damaged during the storms on March 15th. Now that the area is dry enough, they can access the pole's location, which is in a private right-of-way/field.

The planned outage will start at 9am and is expected to last about two hours. This afternoon (3/23/26), MJM members affected by the outage (north of Route 16 to Saint Raymond Cemetery on Route 127) will receive courtesy calls. Thank you for your understanding.

Burn-related damage can lead to power outages or energized lines falling to the ground — creating a dangerous, potentially deadly situation. Before you burn:

– Check weather and wind conditions
– Clear vegetation at least 4 feet around pole bases
– Wet the base of nearby poles

A little preparation goes a long way toward preventing serious hazards.

Storm Recap 3/16/2026:
On March 15th, severe storms brought damaging winds, heavy rain, sleet, and snow to the MJM service area. Outages started at 4:30pm in Jersey County and continued across Macoupin and Montgomery counties throughout the evening.

Initially, the three MJM substations that had an outage, were caused by Transmission line issues that send power to the substations. Once those were restored, MJM line crews worked through the night on the scattered outages and found many sections of downed wires, trees through wires, 3 broken poles (2 were large three-phase poles near Butler), and pieces of a shed through lines near Nokomis. The Taylor Spring crew and some of the Carlinville crew are still out fixing random, singular issues as of 8:45am this morning.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. If you are still experiencing an outage, and haven’t done so already, please report the outage to MJM at 217-707-6156.

03/15/2026

3/15/26, 6:50pm: MJM crews are responding to multiple, scattered outages across the service area in Jersey, Macoupin, and Montgomery counties, as the severe storm continues to pass through the area. Thank you for your patience as crews restore power as safely and quickly as possible.
