Vela Vela is committed to simplifying data collection, reporting, and supporting advocates in their work.

Element 74 was proud to partner with the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence to develop Vela. Before writing a single line of code, our E74 team began by listening to advocates’ experiences. We learned about the realities of advocates’ daily activities, the unique data reporting needs, the complexities of grant requirements, and the challenge of providing crucial social service

s while also reporting like a data analyst. With that shared understanding and an open dialogue, we began creating a solution that would streamline the most tedious and stressful aspects of data reporting and ultimately allow advocates more time to do the work you do best. We truly believe in Vela’s ability to empower your organization, and we can’t wait to show you what it can do.

The people who understand advocacy work best are the people doing it every day.

That’s why advocate feedback is so important when building reporting systems for survivor-serving organizations.

When technology developers listen to advocates and program leaders, systems become more intuitive, reporting becomes clearer, and documentation becomes easier to manage.

In our newest article, we explore how advocate feedback helps shape better reporting systems.

At Vela, our work is deeply rooted in advocacy, because it’s built by people who have lived it.

In this Element 74 Staff Story, meet Marie Montano, Support Specialist for Vela. Before joining our team, Marie worked directly in advocacy, supporting survivors and navigating the same challenges many organizations face today.

Now, she helps shape a platform designed to reduce administrative burden, strengthen reporting, and support trauma-informed care, so advocates can focus on what matters most.

This is what By Advocates For Advocates™ truly means.

In this video, Marie shares:
• Her journey from advocacy to Vela
• Why she believe in the platform
• How Vela supports organizations doing critical work

If your organization is looking for a more thoughtful, secure, and efficient way to manage data and reporting, we’d love to connect.

The best systems are built with the people who use them.

Advocates understand the realities of documentation, reporting, and supporting survivors every day. Their insight helps shape technology that truly supports the work.

When organizations and technology partners safely collaborate, systems become beneficial, reporting becomes clearer, and programs can better demonstrate the impact they make in their communities.

At Vela, we believe the strongest solutions come from listening.

Supporting survivors is never the work of a single person or organization.

Advocates collaborate with shelters, healthcare providers, courts, coalitions, and community partners to ensure survivors receive comprehensive support.

Behind the scenes, strong systems help make that collaboration possible, through clear documentation, accurate reporting, and shared insights.

In our newest article, we explore the role collaboration plays in survivor services and why thoughtful systems are essential to supporting the work.
