This is the kind of post that reminds all of us why we do what we do.
Watching kids like Roland grow from simply enjoying a game to earning a spot on a national stage is incredible, but what’s even more inspiring is seeing the families behind them every step of the way. Youth esports isn’t just about competition. It’s about confidence, teamwork, communication, perseverance, friendships, and finding a place where you belong.
To all of our Valhallan parents: thank you. Thank you for believing in your kids, supporting their passions, driving them to practices, cheering them on through victories and setbacks, and embracing a path that may look different from traditional sports but teaches so many of the same life lessons.
We’re honored to be a small part of Roland’s journey and the journeys of so many amazing young people. Orlando is going to be an unforgettable experience, and we couldn’t be more proud of Roland, his teammates, and the incredible family standing behind him.
See you at Nationals!!!
A year ago, esports was just something Roland enjoyed.
Now we're packing for Nationals.
When people picture youth sports, they usually picture cleats, helmets, swim goggles, or a well-loved baseball glove.
Our version looks a little different.
It looks like strategy sessions, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and hours of practice with teammates who have become friends. It looks like a kid who found something he loves and worked hard enough at it to earn a spot on a national stage.
And it looks like this.
A mom and her kid, standing together in matching jerseys, both carrying names that only make sense because of a journey neither of us could have imagined when he first picked up a controller.
Next week, Roland and his Valhallan Esports League teammates will head to Orlando to compete in the national championship.
As parents, we spend so much time trying to help our kids find their thing. The activity that lights them up. The place where they belong. The people who help them grow.
For some kids, that's a baseball field. For some, it's a dance studio. For some, it's a stage. And for some, it's esports.
No matter what it looks like, there is something incredibly special about watching your child find a path that is uniquely their own.
Here's to chasing dreams, taking chances, and seeing where they lead.
Orlando, we're coming.
