When I see posts like "I built this in a weekend and now make $$$", I raise an eyebrow. Starting with my three current projects (2 mobile apps + Chrome extension), I’ll document the honest process of finding just one paying user. If you're a "norm" like me — follow along. I’ll share it all. 🫠

[ #25 days since the release - Alarm Hero & Dreamscape]
Here are the early stats for both apps — not too impressive so far, haha. I’ll be running some experiments to see what really drives results, how the budget is spent, and what actually helps increase visibility.

(Btw, a single Reddit post with 3K views outperformed the $100 Meta ad — at least for now.)

A while back, I co-authored a film music composition book (course) called 'Behind the Score' which took over 5+ yrs to complete. It earns around $7-8k/year — far less in profit. And it was not a crappy product by all means. It was well-reviewed on Amazon and many forums and yet still struggles to sell. That’s the online reality for most. In case anyone's curious!

To start, here are the early stats for both apps — Alarm Hero & Dreamscape — after 20 days. I know it's sad to watch lol, not much has happened yet. Starting today, I’ll be sharing what actually drives results, where the money goes, and what works (or doesn’t) to boost visibility.

FYI: The actual release was earlier, but I’m counting my real launch from when I first posted on Reddit and ran a $100 Meta ad.
(By the way, a single Reddit post with 3K views outperformed the $100 Meta ad — at least for now.)

Only read if you're like me and tired of seeing “I made this much $$.” Everyone makes it look easy but if you've been on this journey, you just know that building a profitable SaaS isn't as easy as it seems.
As of June 23, 2025, It’s been 3 weeks since I launched my first app Alarm Hero, and I have just 20 followers with $0 in profit so far. My goal is to turn my projects into something profitable and I plan to share my honest story from $0 to $1 (maybe $100 if I’m lucky). I’ll share what I spend, where I post, what worked, and what didn’t.

The hardest part about building an alarm app?
You can’t fake waking up.

You build an alarm app and think the hard part is coding. Then you realize... you need people to care about alarms.🥶

Every word matters when you’re solo and nobody’s there to translate for you.

Wrote 200+ custom alarm tones. Coded the alarm logic for iOS and Android.
Designed the UI. Did app store screenshots and promo videos.
Now I have to figure out how to get 10 people to care 🥲

When doing everything solo, revenue anxiety never stops. Validating early with surveys or landing‑pages becomes a lifeline.

Finding real testers as a solo dev is harder than debugging!!
