The first one was 2019. It was the first design I made. The second one was years later. There was always something special about *seeing* that I was a real artist making things folks resonated with, things that will start a conversation, things that might kindle something that otherwise might not have existed. I wanted to show you the real me, the droopy lines and wobbly imperfections because we all are wobbly. I have always shown all the sides of me. When I was getting a divorce from my ex over a decade ago, I wanted to share with people “my” story because it’s so many people’s story. It’s *our* story. I started a YouTube channel that really explored what I was going through. The lack of overall wellbeing due to my abuse and mental health was never something I wanted to hide about myself. I kind of yelled about it because my head still calls me the things he called me. More than making silly shirt designs to make people smile, I have wanted to build a community, a constellation of kindness, space, safety in a wildly intimidating society. I am healing myself in a way that has made me want to create again. I am healing so hard that I am making time for Katie. I am exploring myself without the crutch of depression and anxiety. Yes. I have those things and might be a BPD baddie now too AND I am reveling. I am living and loving and learning and enjoying who I am, my family, my earth, my poetry and my bravery. I went to an open mic 2 weeks ago and read a poem about breaking free from the comfort of sadness, ripping blue holes through grey skies and taking the happiness I deserve. When I say the crowd was so loud for me, I mean really loud. I am going again this week. I am doing things that make me feel alive. My circle is small for a reason. People continue to remind me I am not for everyone and that is fine. That leaves more me for me and the folks that stand steadily with me. So, whoever you are reading this, if you follow me or not, know my art and story or not, you are worthy, you are lovable, you are enough. Do the thing. Tell your crush they’re cute. Remind people why they’re important to you. Fall in love with yourself over and over again. Live this life, bb.
