***SOLD*** This beautiful vintage Technics SL-1600 MK2 performs extremely well! This heavy duty Quartz locked direct drive freshly serviced table has had a new arm lift belt installed, all speed adjustment pots cleaned, cart lamp replaced and damping fluid changed, plays steady and dead nuts on speed. I opted to install a NOS audiotechnica AT-477SX (with rare NOS ATN14S Shibata styli) for a great performing table rivaling many high end modern tables.
The SL-1600MK2, unlike the sl1200, has a suspended design (platter and arm float on springs) for excellent isolation. Furthermore, it has the added convenience of being fully automatic with no physical linkages to the main drive motor resulting in very low resonance.
The aged stock platter mat was upgraded to a cork mat and the three prisims that detect size automatically were removed, but are included with the table. These are easily re-installed via original screws under the platter if one so desires to retain automatic 45 size detection. Otherwise, 45 rpm size can easily be selected and manually queued down. Original platter mat is included with sale, along with Original Audiotechnica cart box and accessories.
