This original artwork was created by Fresh Off The Press on May 12, 2026. It features custom, stylized dripping lettering that reads "New York Knicks" above a detailed illustration of New York City and Coney Island. The scene includes iconic elements such as the Wonder Wheel, the Parachute Jump, the Statue of Liberty, and pigeons, along with seven stylized New York Knicks players walking together, inspired by the movie The Warriors. The selection, arrangement, composition, colors, illustrations, and overall artistic expression are all original works created by Fresh Off The Press. While AI was used for some elements of the background, all other aspects, including the character lineup, lettering, and additional design features, were completed by Fresh Off The Press using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Firefly.
The artwork was first published by us on Instagram and on our website before receiving significant public attention and widespread online sharing.
Although some copied versions contain minor modifications to individual elements, they substantially replicate the overall concept, composition, player arrangement, and artistic expression of my original artwork.
As additional evidence of originality, the first version of the artwork intentionally featured Jose Alvarado instead of Mitchell Robinson. Many followers questioned this decision on social media, and I explained that Jose Alvarado was included because he is from my neighborhood, Brooklyn-born, and because I chose to feature my favorite players at the time. In a later revision of the artwork, I included Mitchell Robinson in response to those comments. This documented progression is reflected in my original Adobe working files and published versions, which show the development of the artwork over time.
I originally created this design as a social media post; it was never intended to become a T-shirt, nor did I think it would go viral. I was simply inspired by the incredible Knicks season and wanted to create something that captured the journey this team was on.
The inspiration came from one of my favorite movies, The Warriors. Just like the Warriors, the Knicks had to fight their way through one challenge after another to make it home. The Knicks battled through a series of tough opponents in pursuit of bringing an NBA championship back home to New York. That determination, resilience, and New York attitude were what I wanted this artwork to represent.
This isn't the first time I've used The Warriors as inspiration. I've been doing The Warriors mashups since 2009, starting with my Star Warriors design, way before AI was even around. I've always been a huge fan of the movie, and every now and then it finds its way into my artwork.
