Ever had a spiral bound book where the pages tear out after a few weeks?

Most of the time, the problem is the holes. If they are crooked or rough, the coil does not feed smoothly, and the pages start to rip at the edges.

For the Gramercy Pilates Teacher Training Guide, we punched every page in small stacks so the holes stay clean and lined up. We punched the covers too, the clear one up front and the leatherette one on the back, then checked the whole set before it went to the coil.

It is not the exciting part of making a book, but it is the part that decides whether the book lasts.

A student walks into a community event and picks up a flyer from a table. In five seconds, they need to understand what the program is and whether it is for them.

That was the job in front of Aligned Pathways, a New York City program that helps students from 6th grade through post-secondary figure out life after high school, whether that means a four year college, a trade school, the military, or a gap year. Their research points to a real problem: 72 percent of high school students say they feel unprepared for what comes next, and school counselors are often stretched across too many students to give everyone the attention they need.

When Rendr, New York City's largest medical group dedicated to serving the Asian community, expanded to Little Neck, NY, they faced a unique challenge. Rather than broadcasting their message to a broad audience, they needed to effectively reach and engage with Chinese families and residents in the surrounding area.
