🖼👩🏻‍🎨 Roya Khadjavi Projects and Massoud Nader present “Unstable Conditions”, a solo exhibition by Iranian-born artist Zeynab Movahed. Delicately layered with a clever combination of reflections and shadows, this body of works is made of intertwined and sometimes broken shapes, a parallel to the actual world of the artist herself and women like her.

The opening reception for "Unstable Conditions" is tomorrow, April 5th, from 4-8 PM in Gallery 1. The show is on view through April 18th.

🖼• "To see these semi-abstract paintings, dating from the late 1940s through the 1980s, is like peeking into the deepest depths of the REM cycle. Bodies bubble and churn, and reach toward—inside—each other. Tanning’s best-known works seem sited in reality, at least to some degree—you can tell they take place in domestic spheres. But here, there’s no discernible setting, just a prism of color and desire. They’re dreams you struggle to wake from, though their details slip away with a few blinks in the morning light."

Don't miss the major exhibition at Kasmin's 509 West 27th Street gallery, on view through April 16.

Repost | Elad Lassry probes and disrupts photographic images and prescribed modes of looking to analyze the relationship between objects and their representations. Using various elements such as wire and stainless steel ball bearings to obscure images, Lassry alters the flatness and framing of his pictures to destabilize how we engage with photography. His rigorous conceptual strategies generate intentional collisions, highlighting perceptual paradoxes inherent to the photographic medium, while questioning the very meaning of pictures in contemporary culture.

Pictured here is his work, “Untitled (Carpet, Coral Hawkfish,” 2019, Silver gelatin print, offset print on paper, stainless steel, walnut frame, 11.25 x 14.25 x 2 inches framed, Unique.
