As we head into Fall 2026, update a key password this week.

Strengthen your account with these tips:
- Use 16 characters or more, the longer the stronger
- Use a unique password for your most important accounts, like your BU account
- Create a passphrase or a random string of unrelated words
- Mix in uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols in between words

Be sure to avoid:
- A single word preceded or followed by a special character
- Your username, email, or parts of your name
- Your phone number, address, birthday, or anniversary
- A commonly used word or phrase (“password”, a“12345”)

Duo Push is part of your everyday sign-in experience. Learn how it works now so you're ready when the fall semester starts.

Duo is a two-factor authentication method that sends a notification to your phone for you to approve a login.

1. Download the Duo Mobile App
2. Contact the BU IT Help Center for an activation link
3. Log into any BU app or service and tap approve with Duo Push. Approve the sign-in in Duo Mobile
