A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage earlier today in the US-East-1 region caused disruptions across popular platforms including Snapchat, Alexa, and parts of Microsoft 365.

Because AWS powers a large portion of the internet’s infrastructure, even brief downtime can ripple across industries.

Events like this are a reminder that cloud reliability is not absolute. Every business should have continuity and communication plans in place to protect operations when critical providers experience outages.

𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝟯𝟲𝟱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
As of 2:49 PM Central today, Microsoft is reporting a service degradation affecting Microsoft 365. Early reports show issues accessing Microsoft Teams and Exchange Online. Some users may experience issues signing in or using features. Microsoft is reviewing telemetry and rebalancing traffic. The scope of impact may include any user attempting to access affected services.

What to do now
• If Outlook or Teams will not load, avoid repeated sign-in attempts.
• Use alternate channels for urgent communication.
• Contact Fifth Gear through your normal support method if your operations are impacted.

We are monitoring Microsoft advisories and will share updates as they are released. No estimated time to resolution has been provided yet.
