We are pleased to share 3 tips to become a better Explorer …
1- Sustainable is budget-friendly. As tourism leaves a big environmental footprint, it is up to every explorer to develop a more sustainable approach. When choosing accommodations, check for policies regarding environmental issues! According to the New York Times, green buildings encompass 25 percent of all hospitality construction, broadly increasing each year. On a micro level, volunteering, eating locally and searching for certifications can help you financially when done with common sense.
2- Do not neglect sleep. When exploring, fatigue can be a major liability. Johns Hopkins Center recommends moving your bedtime up to 3 days before your travel to adapt future time zone changes. Use the « 2 days rules »; if you stay less than 2 days in a different timezone than no need to adapt otherwise a schedule change is a good idea. Finally « move your body » in the morning to signal your body it’s time to get going by exercising or taking a warm shower.
3- Don’t plan too much. The freedom of choice when exploring is imperative to have flexibility, to make last-minute decisions & to have unexpected encounters. Don’t waste time planing because plans always change.
