Youth Tour delegates Anaston and Rayne spent the fifth day of the trip meeting U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, taking photos at the White House, and visiting the World War I, II, Korean War, Lincoln, and Vietnam Veterans Memorials. The day offered delegates a deeper appreciation for the people, events, and sacrifices that have shaped our nation's history. 🏛️

On Tuesday, our 2026 Cooperative Youth Tour delegates Anaston and Rayne visited Arlington National Cemetery, the Museum of the Bible, the National Air & Space Museum, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial, The Wharf, and attended the U.S. Marine Corps Sunset Parade at the Iwo Jima Memorial.

From honoring our nation's heroes to experiencing American history and culture firsthand, these young leaders continue making memories, and gaining experiences that will last a lifetime.

A fun tradition of this trip is pin trading, where delegates have the opportunity to meet and connect with fellow Youth Tour delegates from across the country while exchanging state-themed pins. They are learning, having fun and making friends along the way!❤️

The first two days of the 2026 Cooperative Youth Tour of Washington, D.C. started this weekend off with some unforgettable experiences.

Delegates Anaston and Rayne kicked off their journey with lunch at the Pentagon City Food Court before visiting the Martin Luther King Jr., Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson Memorials. After a full afternoon of exploring our nation's history, they checked into the hotel and prepared for another exciting day.

Day two was equally impactful, beginning with a solemn visit to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Delegates then enjoyed America's favorite pastime with a Washington Nationals ball game before concluding the day with a visit to the 9/11 Memorial.

Anaston and Rayne will continue exploring Washington, D.C. this week. We are proud of our PCEPA delegates!❤️

⚡Outage Update: The Squirrel Strikes Again!🐿️

This afternoon, a squirrel at our Park Street Substation apparently decided to take its curiosity a little too far.

The furry troublemaker caused a power interruption affecting approximately 2,700 meters, impacting all of the south side and much of the west side of town.

Our crews quickly responded and restored power as safely and efficiently as possible. While we appreciate wildlife, we’d prefer our squirrels stick to climbing trees instead of testing electrical equipment!

Thank you for your patience while we handled this unexpected visitor.

🌩️ Before the next storm rolls through, someone's already out there making sure the lights stay on. This Right-of-Way Professionals Week, we're celebrating these men who clear trees and limbs from our power lines, so when thunderstorms hit, your power doesn't miss a beat. It's essential work most members never see. We are so grateful for our safety coordinator Phillip and Right-of-Way crew members Reed, Tim, and DJ.

Happy Right-of-Way Professionals Week to this PCEPA crew! We appreciate all that you do!⚡

🌡️Heading out for summer fun? Set your thermostat higher while you're away! Your AC won't work overtime cooling an empty house. Smart thermostats make it even easier – schedule the perfect temperature for your return!

🔌Before you hit the road, take 10 minutes to unplug! TVs, coffee makers, phone chargers, and gaming systems draw power even when "off." These phantom loads can add $$$ to your electric bill.

💡And don't forget to keep your home secure without keeping your electric bill high! Use timers or smart switches to turn lights on/off automatically. LED bulbs use 75% less energy than old incandescent bulbs, so if you haven't switched yet, now's the perfect time!

😎Have a great time vacationing and hopefully you'll save some money on your bill too!☀️
