We recently launched a new website for Cutting Edge Manufacturing here in Idaho, and this one was a fun project.

These guys work on aerospace and aircraft components, complex machining projects, fabrication, and all kinds of precision manufacturing work. Really impressive operation.

The goal with the redesign was simple: build a website that actually reflects the quality of what they do.

We focused heavily on strong visuals, galleries, certifications, equipment, and showcasing their capabilities in a cleaner and more modern way.

Also appreciated this feedback from Trevor after launch: "White Whale was great to work with. Very professional and extremely good at what they do. We would choose no other."

2 weeks ago we had our first full all-hands meeting at White Whale Web with both our local and remote team together in one place.

Twelve people total.

We spent the afternoon talking about how much the company has grown over the last few years, where we’re headed next, and how we continue improving the work we do for clients.

Since 2022:
- our team has grown from 5 people to 12
- active clients have grown from 30 to 73
- active projects per year have grown from 34 to 97

We also talked a lot about the future:
-expanding our government website work
- growing our white-label development partnerships
- improving our processes internally
- using AI where it genuinely helps us work smarter without sacrificing quality

Then we wrapped things up with pizza, photos, and just hanging out together for a while.

Honestly, it was a really good reminder of how fortunate I am to work with this group of people every day.

Huge thanks to Fudo for the awesome photos.

A little behind on sharing this one, but we wrapped up a redesign for Sunny Days Learning Academy recently and we’re really proud of how it turned out.

This project was a lot of fun because Sunny Days already does such a great job for Boise families. The goal wasn’t just to make the site look nicer. It was to make it easier for busy parents to actually find information, explore the program, and take the next step without frustration.

We simplified the experience, improved performance across devices, cleaned up the structure, and helped position the site for long-term growth.

And it’s working.

Views, active users, and most importantly enrollments are all up since launch.

Over the next six months, we’ll be continuing to build on that momentum with expanded SEO, additional page content, enrollment and renewal form improvements, and updates focused on improving visibility in AI-driven search results.

Big thanks to the Sunny Days team for being such a great client to work with.

Checking a status code shouldn’t be a whole process.

But most tools make you create an account, dig through crap, or force you into some bloated toolset you don’t need.

So we built a super simple one: https://bit.ly/4tQh0dJ

Paste a URL and instantly see the status code, the full redirect chain, and what’s actually happening behind the scenes.

No login. No noise. No BS. Just the info you’re actually looking for.

We’ve already been using it a ton for broken redirects after launches and tracking down weird error codes.

If you do any dev or SEO work, it’s probably worth bookmarking.

We built it for ourselves, but figured we’d share it in case it saves you some time too.

We decided to submit for our first-ever industry award this year… and ended up taking home Silver.

On April 10, we went to the “Ye Olde Rockies” awards hosted by the Idaho Advertising Federation, and White Whale Web won Silver in the Consumer Website category for Skateboards.com.

Pretty great feeling, especially for our first time submitting.

Skateboards.com was a fun one to build. It’s not just a website, it’s a full platform connecting skaters to parks, shops, events, and content all over the world. A lot of thought went into making it something that could really grow with the community.

Now… here’s the part I didn’t see coming.

The video I rushed together the night before the deadline? That’s what they played during the awards.

Full room. Loud speakers. Hundreds of people.

No edits. No polish. Just me talking through the site with plenty of “ums” and “yeah, over here…”

Let’s just say, lesson learned. If you’re submitting something like this, assume everything will be shown and give yourself the time to do it right.

That said, the event itself was awesome. Great setup at Treefort Music Lounge, really good food, and a chance to catch up with a lot of familiar faces from around the Idaho creative community.

Big thanks to SuperBase for the design work, and to Jared for his amazing development work.

We’ll take the win and come back even stronger next time.

So we have this plaque on the wall and it looks impressive until you notice that Boise was generated with AI … and there’s an imaginary building! Why didn’t they just use one of the many great Boise pics, it’s beyond me!

We’ve got a new Senior Web Engineer on the team.

Chris Wilson just joined White Whale Web, and he’s already diving into projects and helping us level things up. He specializes in building scalable applications and solving complex problems the right way, not the rushed way.

He’s also been experimenting with AI-driven tools and recently launched a static site generator, so he’s bringing some fresh thinking into the mix.

Bottom line: our clients are going to benefit from this right away.

Welcome to the team, Chris.

We recently launched a new website for Friends of Idaho Public Television.

This was a pro bono project for our team and a chance to support a great Idaho organization. The new site helps share the impact Idaho Public Television has across communities throughout the state.

Thanks to the IPTV team and Chad Biggs at Red Sky PR for the collaboration.
