Our October 2026 issue of Holy Calling Magazine is taking a little longer to launch than we originally anticipated.

We've continued running into technical publishing challenges with Amazon KDP, and rather than rush the process or compromise the quality of this issue, we're exploring a different path.

✨ We're now working toward publishing through Bookvault!

Is this the timeline we planned? No. Is it frustrating? Absolutely.

But sometimes faithful stewardship means being willing to adjust the process without abandoning the purpose.

We're committed to getting this issue into your hands, and we're grateful for the patience and encouragement you've shown us along the way.

We don't have a confirmed new launch date just yet, but we'll share an update as soon as we have reliable information.

📖☕ Spending part of this Sunday continuing through Romans, and Romans 1:2 is such a quiet reminder that God is never scrambling to figure out what comes next.

“(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)” — Romans 1:2 KJV

Yesterday's uncertainty does not make God uncertain. Tomorrow's unanswered questions do not catch Him unprepared.

Paul begins Romans by pointing his readers toward something God had already promised through His prophets. The Gospel wasn't God's emergency response when humanity went wrong. His redemptive plan had been promised beforehand in Scripture.

And maybe some of us need that reminder today.

We can become so consumed with asking, “God, what are You doing?” that we forget to return to what He has already said.

When you're confused...go back to Scripture.
When you're waiting...go back to Scripture.
When your plans change...go back to Scripture.
When you don't know your next step...go back to Scripture.

Your feelings may change. Circumstances certainly will. God's Word does not.

“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” — Psalm 119:89 KJV

Before there was Holy Calling Magazine.
Before the podcast.
Before the MJD Bookshelf.
Before so many of the things Marilyn Jeanne Designs has become…

there was this book. 💗

Women Who Lead: The Future of Entrepreneurship was the very first book I was ever published in. I was one of 30 women who said yes to putting part of our stories on paper...and looking back now, I don't think I fully understood what that first “yes” would lead to.

Isn't that how God works sometimes?

We want the entire business plan. The five-year vision. The confirmation that everything is going to work before we're willing to move.

And sometimes God simply gives us the next step.

This book is filled with stories from women who have faced adversity, built resilience, discovered their strength, and stepped into entrepreneurship. It explores what can happen when women stop allowing their hardest chapters to disqualify them and instead use what they've learned to build something meaningful.

Its mantra is, “Embrace Your Potential. Become the Author of Your Own Story.”

That hits a little differently now.

Because that first published chapter became part of a much bigger story for me...one that was still being written when I couldn't see where any of it was going.

So here's my gentle challenge for you...don't despise the small beginning.

You don't have to know where the first yes will lead before you're obedient enough to give it.

If you could sit down with your younger self for five minutes, what would you tell her? 💗

Would you tell her to stop trying so hard to be liked? To trust God even when she can't see what He's doing? To walk away sooner? To dream bigger? To forgive herself?

Or maybe you'd simply wrap your arms around that younger version of you and tell her, “You're going to make it.”

So much of who we become is shaped by the things we survived, the lessons we learned, the prayers God answered differently than we expected, and the wisdom we wish we'd had a little sooner.

That's part of the heart behind Dear Daughters.

Women looking back at what they've walked through and choosing to say, “Daughter, here's what I want you to know.”

🎙️🤍 Spending this Throwback Thursday revisiting Episode 50, and this conversation still makes me stop and think.

What am I building that will actually matter in eternity?

In Episode 50 of Christian Authors with Marilyn Jeanne Designs, I sat down with Brazilian-American author Dilene Leila Swofford for a conversation about Living With Purpose and her book, Your Soul Will Live Forever.

We talked about the encounter with Jesus that changed the direction of Dilene's life, her writing journey, pursuing God-given purpose, and learning to loosen our grip on the success, possessions, and accomplishments that won't follow us into eternity.

And that's a challenging question for me as a business owner, and maybe for you, too...am I asking God to bless everything I'm building…or am I allowing Him to decide what is worth building in the first place?

Our books matter. Our businesses matter. Our ministries matter. The work God gives us to steward matters.

But none of it was ever meant to become more important than knowing and following Him.

Some stories are difficult to write because you had to live them first. 💗

And I think that's something we need to talk about more.

Following God doesn't mean we won't experience painful chapters. Sometimes faith looks less like having everything together and more like whispering, “Lord, I'm still here. Help me take the next step.”

☕📖 Feeling a little reflective today for National Random Acts of Poetry Day.

So I went back into the Christian Authors with Marilyn Jeanne Designs Podcast archives and pulled out this conversation with poet and longtime pastor Ken Hinkley. 🤍

After more than 30 years pastoring small rural churches in western Maine, Ken has spent decades listening...to people, their stories, and to God. That same heart comes through in his poetry collection, Modern Psalms.

These aren't poems pretending that following Jesus means we never experience doubt, loneliness, uncertainty, or difficult emotions. They're poems written in the middle of those very human moments, and pointed back toward the Word of God.

And maybe that's a reminder worth carrying today...we don't have to pretend everything is fine to bring it before God.

The Psalms themselves show us praise, grief, fear, repentance, questions, thanksgiving, and hope. Whatever season you're walking through, keep bringing your heart back to the One who knows it completely.

“Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.” — Psalm 62:8 KJV
