In recent project we took a product from the idea stage, developed a proof of concept, patenting, and brought in original investment.
We developed a research and development strategy and matched it with an escalating share investment value strategy. Over four years we escalated the privately held share value (100 shares) from $0 to $2,000,000 per share. Our investment contracts provided the founders the right to buy back the investor's shares within 2 years and provide them 100% return on their investment.
To add credibility to the technology and business strategy we aligned our research & development with two major universities that are leaders in their fields of expertise. On business development and marketing strategies we aligned with a leading university's MBA consulting program.
The original investor bought 20% of the company for $12,500 per share based on proof of concept being completed. 18 months later when a working prototype was completed we were able to sell those same shares for $75.000 per share and buy out the original investor and provide him a 100% return on his investment. Subsequent investors invested at $250,000 per share based on internal testing of a working prototype and then $2,000,000 per share prior to engaging in official third party testing. This strategy left the founders still owning 75% of their companies shares.
Some of the investors were not bought out. This was deliberate as we specifically sought them out as investors to provide their expertise on a board of directors. One had international legal experience on acquisitions and growth, another was the VP of franchising for a multibillion corporation and the last two investors had both taken small companies and grew them into large organizations.
