As written by Pledge Class President, Juan Segura, "One of the new traditions started this year is for the pledges to run their own separate philanthropy. We were given a couple of weeks to decide on the charity that we wanted to support and the method in which we helped them. The Toys For Tots campaign was very appealing to us due to the fact that we could directly give back to the community that we live in. Another reason we chose to help this organization was because of the approaching holiday season. We decided that the best way to raise funds and spread awareness about Toys For Tots was to put up a booth in front of a popular dining center on campus to which people could donate toys or money. Days before, we walked around campus handing out custom flyers made by one of our pledge brothers. That day, we stood outside educating passing students and staff members about this wonderful organization. In merely four hours, we were able to raise $190 in donations and collect a couple of toys. At first none of us saw the point of adding extra work to our already busy lives, but as the week progressed, we adapted a new perspective, a perspective that taught us the impact and pride of giving back to our community."

This past semester the Alpha Phi Chapter held their annual philanthropy, Deck the Halls, with all proceeds going towards the Craig Hospital in Denver, CO, which is one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation centers for spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries. The reason we care so much about this organization is because one of our brothers recently had his father admitted here after he broke his back. The healing process was long and painful, and he still has a ways to go, but thanks to the amazing people at this hospital, he is able to walk again. However, that didn’t come without a hefty fee, and sadly many who come to this hospital seeking treatment must be turned away because they simply can’t afford it. We believe people shouldn’t have to be denied the chance to someday walk again, and if the only thing stopping them from trying is money, then we were going to do all we can to help.

Shoutout to the following brothers who participated in Virginia Tech's Big Event, an opportunity for students to give back to those in the local area. They traveled to Riner, VA where they helped a family with tasks around their home and yard. Way to go guys.
