PSA: If you are going to hire someone to install power and electronics in your home or business, hire someone reputable. Don't assume they know what they are doing because they hung a tv in their home. Definitely don't just hire someone random to do electrical work. 30% of our work is fixing other people's bad work. You may have saved $500-$1000 going with them, but now you're essentially paying double to have it done right. Also, check behind them when they are done, and ask questions. Today we're fixing a shoddy TV and electrical install. The owner had a friend recommend the guy, so he didn't know they had no idea what they were doing. During a recent surveillance installation I noticed the electrical that was so far out of code it was crazy. Usually I'll just inform the customer of the issue, but this one was just dangerous for many reasons so we recommended letting us fix it. Now as we remove the TVs to access the electrical, we find that every mount has been installed upside down too. We'll spend the day replacing the electrical, load testing, ARC fault testing, and fixing the mounts along with whatever else we find.
